Kettering Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform accurate testing, recognizing abnormal or unusual results, and reporting timely results accurately, in writing, verbally, by fax or computer.
- Notify appropriate persons as necessary, and perform and record instrument checks, and quality control.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration, and identify QC issues and initiate proper corrective action.
- Follow instruction for analyzer operation and reagent preparation, and document and notify lab leadership appropriately.
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science program or BS/BA program in related science that meets requirements for certification.
- MT (ASCP) or current (ASCP) certification, or equivalent certification, preferred.
- Current (ASCP) categoricalist certification and a BS or BA in related science.
- ASCP certification to be obtained within one year of hire, preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to perform testing with accuracy appropriate to the sections in which they work.
- Knowledge of standardization and quality control theory, and ability to troubleshoot without preset criteria.
- Understanding of safety regulations, regulatory requirements, and statistical methods.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, hospital personnel, and physicians.
