Architectural Design Supervisor

As an Architectural Design Supervisor at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, you will be responsible for directing and managing architectural design and planning initiatives within the Structural and Architectural Design Section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees, directs, and evaluates the work of junior staff members.
  • Ensures the creation of architectural plans and specifications are executed effectively.
  • Collaborates with various disciplines to align architectural design efforts with project requirements.
  • Manages contracts with consultants for architectural design projects.
  • Develops design parameters and liaises with multiple stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Reviews architectural plans prepared by other professionals.
  • Engages with governmental bodies to secure necessary permits.
  • Analyzes property documents relevant to District properties.
  • Undertakes other assigned tasks as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of architectural principles and methodologies.
  • Capability to plan, oversee, and assess architectural projects.
  • Proficiency in preparing architectural drawings and conducting feasibility analyses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois.
  • Degree from an accredited institution in architecture with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
Substitution Policy

Advanced studies in architecture may be considered in lieu of experience. Professional architectural experience may also be accepted as a substitute for educational qualifications.

Promotion Criteria
  • At least one year of experience as a Senior Architect within the District.
  • Civil service status as a Senior Architect.
