We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Engineer/QMED to join our team at American Seafoods. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer and 1st Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all vessel engineering systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Engineering Operations
- Support the Chief Engineer and 1st Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all vessel engineering systems and processes, including diesel propulsion and electric generating systems, deck hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fuel and lubrication systems, refrigeration plant, sewage treatment, water making/desalinization system, vacuum sanitation system, and heating and ventilation systems.
- Assist with monitoring of maintenance programs on all main systems and engineering systems.
- Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
- Assist with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulations.
- Maintain the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirements.
- Inventory Management and Training
- Assist in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logs.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory.
- Attend and participate in all company-sponsored training programs as well as outside training in management or engineering-related courses.
- Physical Abilities and Work Schedule
- Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests.
- Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob's ladder.
- Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time.
- Perform tie-up, shipyard, and in-port work for required maintenance as directed by ASC management on a 12-hour per day schedule.
- QMED Required.
- Capable of assisting with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulations.

- Capable of assisting in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logs.
- Capable of assisting in maintaining spare parts inventory.
- Strictly supports all ASC policies and company philosophies.

- Maintains the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirements.
$7,000 - $9,000 per trip (crew share value estimate)
