Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Engineer to join our team at O'Hara Corporation. As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a critical role in the operation, maintenance, and repair of our vessel's systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's systems, including diesel engines, generators, refrigeration, electrical and hydraulic equipment, water making and sanitary equipment, deck machinery, factory equipment, pumps, cooling, and conveyor systems.
  • Work under the direction of the Chief Engineer to perform tasks and assignments as required.
  • Assist in the transfer of bulk petroleum products and maintain an inventory control system.
  • Prepare department records and reports as required by the company, USCG, OSHA, and other agencies.
  • Oversee a safety program and ensure all engineering crew are trained and fully cognizant of job hazards.
  • Resolve technical problems as they occur and give specific directions in the case of an emergency.
Work Environment

As an Assistant Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, operating in extremely remote and austere locations. You will be exposed to various species of fish, wet, humid, and freezing conditions, and will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment.

Requirements
  • USCG 3rd Assistant License Unlimited or higher.
  • Engine room experience on a catcher processor vessel preferred.
  • Earned High School Diploma or GED.
  • 24 months or more of relevant verifiable work experience in the last 4 years.

Compensation
  • Crew-share compensation.
  • $300-$950 a day DOE.
