Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Guidance: Collaborate with the CFO, Controller, and relevant teams to formulate and implement suitable financial strategies for the organization.

Corporate Financial Management:

  • Conduct daily corporate accounting and month-end closing activities.
  • Handle invoice processing, cash deposit recording, and necessary adjustment entries.
  • Maintain thorough documentation to substantiate transactions in the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.

Project Management: Oversee and assist with initiatives such as the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Program, Real Estate Development, and other LLC reconciliations.

Insurance Coordination:

  • Ensure effective integration of Real Estate Development and organizational insurance.
  • Work with brokers, leadership, and team members to assess coverage levels and identify consolidation opportunities.

Financial Reporting: Utilize Sage Intacct to refresh recurring reports for various activities, including home sales, work-in-progress, cost summaries, rental activities, and compliance obligations.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Develop cash flow forecasts and projection models in collaboration with the CFO, Controller, and financial team members.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of cash flow processes.

Collaboration and Communication: Engage closely with internal departments, including loan production, operations, servicing, real estate sales, and community development, to ensure best practices in service delivery.

Software Expertise: To enhance service delivery, leverage electronic tools such as Salesforce (STARS database system), Sage Intacct, Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and advanced Excel capabilities.

Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

Process Optimization: Actively seek and implement continuous process improvements to boost the overall efficiency of the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in standard accounting practices and GAAP principles.
  • Technical proficiency. Must comprehend Homewise's nonprofit financial business model and the relevant accounting policies and practices for bank accounts, investments, loans, mortgages, mortgage-backed securities, real estate development, grants management, and standard accounts.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or related roles within a financial institution or mortgage company.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field (or four years of equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum required work experience).

Work Schedule:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as required.
  • This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of three days in the office alongside remote work.
