SPEC Services is a leading provider of engineering solutions for gas utilities, fuel pipelines, storage facilities, renewable energy systems, carbon capture initiatives, and water distribution networks across California and the western/southwestern United States. We are currently looking for skilled professionals in gas systems and pipeline engineering to enhance their technical and project management skills.

Role Overview
As a Project Engineer, you will spearhead the technical development of projects, defining the overall project scope and coordinating with various disciplines and specialists. This position offers a pathway to increased responsibilities in project engineering and management, based on your performance and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and design teams in creating feasibility studies, preliminary design reports, and project scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Oversee the execution of pipeline engineering and design projects, ensuring successful completion and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Participate in staffing decisions for project teams, assign tasks, and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Manage sub-consultants to ensure effective coordination and quality of work.
  • Act as a proactive leader and representative in client interactions, driving project progress.
  • Ensure excellence in project outcomes, including quality of work, client communication, and overall project profitability.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in gas systems, pipeline, or related engineering fields is required. Experience with engineering services firms and gas utility projects is highly desirable.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as 49 CFR Parts 192 and/or 195, ASME B31.3/B31.4, B31.8, and/or B31.12 is essential.
  • A Professional Engineering license is preferred.
  • Project Management certification is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software/tools is required.
  • Field experience in construction is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.

Work Environment
We are seeking engineers located within the Greater Bay area who can provide on-call support and maintain communication with clients. Our company operates on a 9/80 work schedule and supports a hybrid workforce to maximize value for our clients and personnel. The primary work will be in Northern California, with some travel to project sites and the corporate office.

Compensation
SPEC Services offers competitive compensation for engineers and project managers at various levels of responsibility. The typical annual salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000, influenced by experience, industry knowledge, and the overall value of the position.
