The Senior Audiology Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Pacific EarClinic, collaborating closely with the Clinic Director and the clinical education team to uphold the institution's dedication to both academic and clinical training for doctoral audiology students while providing outstanding audiological services.
Key Responsibilities:Clinic Administration:
- Support the clinic director in the recruitment and selection of both administrative and clinical personnel.
- Contribute to the establishment and execution of a continuous quality improvement framework for the Pacific EarClinic.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all relevant licensure and hearing aid dispensing regulations as mandated by state and federal authorities.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA, insurance standards, and other applicable regulations.
- Assist in meeting accreditation standards and contribute to annual reports and site evaluations.
Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough audiological assessments to ascertain the type and severity of hearing loss using specialized tools.
- Analyze diagnostic results to formulate treatment plans.
- Utilize medical diagnostic methods within the scope of audiology practice.
- Document findings and patient progress in electronic medical records while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Evaluate candidates for implantable hearing devices and provide fitting and follow-up services.
- Identify patients' communication needs and offer guidance on managing hearing impairments.
- Design and implement treatment plans for hearing and balance disorders, collaborating with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Recommend and fit hearing aids and assistive devices tailored to individual patient needs.
- Educate patients on hearing conservation and provide appropriate protective devices.
- Administer balance assessments and interpret results for referring physicians.
- Foster effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
Educational Contributions:
- Collaborate with the clinical education team to develop training programs for clinical supervisors.
- Provide clinical mentorship to students and facilitate observational opportunities in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist in teaching clinical components of the doctoral audiology curriculum.
Community Engagement:
- Engage with faculty and programs within the College of Health Professions to explore interprofessional clinical service opportunities.
- Build and maintain community partnerships that enhance clinical services.
- Participate in committees and workgroups relevant to the clinic and university.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the Pacific EarClinic.
Qualifications:- Current audiology license from the state of Oregon or eligibility to obtain one.
- Doctor of Audiology (AuD) or equivalent doctoral degree in audiology or related field.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) or ability to obtain prior to employment.
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience in audiology.
- Previous experience supervising students is preferred.
- Professional certification in audiology is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
