Accounting Professional Sought for Payroll Management Role

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our dedicated accounting team as a Payroll Accountant. This position involves processing all aspects of payroll and reconciliation, requiring strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication.

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of payroll processing experience with multi-state expertise using third-party payroll systems. Knowledge of GAAP and payroll processes is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Timesheet Management:
    • Execute the timesheet process, reviewing and approving timesheets weekly.
    • Monitor and resolve any coding issues with staff.
    • Coordinate time entries with HR for employee changes.
  • Mid-Month/End-of-Month Payrolls:
    • Process mid-month and end-of-month payrolls through ERP and payroll systems.
    • Resolve pay issues regarding compensation, hours, deductions, 401K, and taxes with HR support.
    • Submit payroll reports to Leadership for final approval.
    • Coordinate funding with the accounting team.
  • Tax Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with State and Federal tax laws and deadlines.
  • Labor Reporting:
    • Create labor utilization reports for Leadership.
    • Provide weekly reporting on timesheet submittals, project labor reports, and overhead/marketing labor reports.
    • Produce other payroll and labor reports as requested.
  • Month End/Year End Accounting:
    • Allocate and post journal entries for payroll, insurance, taxes, wages, and other payroll entries.
    • Execute the month-end close process for timesheets/payroll/benefits.
    • Review BS/P&L workbook for accuracy.
    • Research and resolve any issues with the month-end close.
    • Reconcile payments to benefit providers with the AP team.

This role requires a high commitment to data accuracy and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver exceptional results within specified deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Accounting degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 7-10 years of payroll processing experience with multi-state expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and regulations.
  • General knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision software or other ERP software.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
