Job Summary

The Registered Veterinary Technician will provide leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to the support staff to ensure a smooth shift operation.
  • Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development.
  • Contribute to 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide patient care under the supervision of a DVM.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Record accurate medical, client, and case-related information in the patient record.
  • Review medical records, estimates, and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer client inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures.
Additional Functions
  • Provide client care for scheduling appointments, taking payments, and checking in clients.
  • Answer phones in a courteous and informative manner.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for the training program.
  • Participate in job shadows or working interviews as necessary.
  • Take part in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance as directed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • State Department of Regulation Licensing required.
  • 1+ years of veterinary industry experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with moderate sounds from animals and equipment.
  • Ability to be exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch.
