Seeking a Neurodevelopmental Scientist/Physician-Scientist

The Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at the University of Virginia are seeking an open-rank faculty-level scientist with expertise in neurodevelopment to join our team. As part of a major University-wide investment in this area, we are looking for an investigator with a strong research program and a record of achievements demonstrating current and ongoing innovative research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in neurodevelopment, with a focus on early biomarkers of intellectual disabilities, perinatal experiences, and early interventions to mitigate the negative impact of prematurity and the NICU environment on brain development.
  • Develop and implement innovative research programs that can attract and sustain extramural funding.
  • Facilitate connections between fundamental and applied scientists by directly linking findings from the bench to the bedside.
  • Provide clinical care to children within their specialty of pediatric neurology, neurodevelopmental disabilities, developmental behavioral pediatrics, or neonatology.
Requirements
  • Terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD PhD, or DO PhD)
  • Three years of experience in research and clinical care
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in pediatric neurology, neurodevelopmental disabilities, developmental behavioral pediatrics, or neonatology
