Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Architectural and Engineering Associate is expected to be proactive and possess a solid understanding of the technical aspects involved in assembling architectural and construction documentation. A fundamental grasp of site development and the creation of construction documents, including drawings and specifications for various technical projects, is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate independence, professionalism, and the ability to proceed with projects or project components with minimal guidance. A strong desire to comprehend the complete project scope from design through to construction is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide support to various drafting personnel and resources.
  • Assist in project scheduling, quality assurance, and budget management.
  • Contribute to leading team members effectively.
  • Responsible for the development of detailed designs and the production of construction documents.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in learning specifications and conducting material and product research.
  • Possess a basic understanding of tenant development work, space planning, and code compliance.
  • Offer conceptual insights on assigned projects.
  • Monitor scope, schedule, and budget concerning architectural project aspects.
  • Assist in formulating architectural work plans and task assignments, including supervision and mentoring of project staff.
  • Support the review of shop drawings during the construction phase and the assembly of proposals, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Exhibit the ability to learn and utilize CADD, REVIT, and other relevant software.
  • Contribute to the firm's QA/QC program by serving as an architectural discipline checker for assigned projects.
  • Fulfill assigned collateral duties related to team operations.
  • Assist in the development of production standards.
  • Potentially support site visits and project measurements as necessary.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Engineering and Technology: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in civil or electrical engineering design and development projects, with a solid understanding of the practical application of engineering principles and technology.

Design: Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Administration and Management: Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of personnel and resources.

Critical Thinking: Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of various solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Excellent Communication Skills: Capable of actively listening, understanding others' points, asking pertinent questions, and conveying information effectively.

Complex Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying complex issues and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Judgment and Decision Making: Ability to assess the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to select the most suitable option.

Coordination: Proficient in adjusting actions based on the actions of others.

A professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Design along with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred. Professional registration as an Engineer or Architect is not a requirement.
