Job Overview

The Controller is a senior-level management position responsible for overseeing the Finance department at Monroe Ambulance. This role requires a high degree of professional judgment and situational awareness, with a focus on creating a positive team environment and ensuring compliance with company policies, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in creating and fostering a positive team environment for the Finance department and the Monroe Ambulance organization.
  • Oversee the accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions, ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and manage periodic financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting processes and software, offering recommendations for improvement to leverage data or new tools to support strategic initiatives.
  • Prepares weekly cash flow projections for senior management.
  • Coordinate annual review and 401(k) audit with external auditors.
  • Assists Chief Financial Officer with annual operating and capital budget processes.
  • Filing of quarterly sales tax returns.
  • Ensures finance department Standards of Operating procedures are updated as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 7-10 years of experience with demonstration of progressive responsibilities.
  • CMA or CPA preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to discussions of general business issues, to work well with a wide range of clients, from senior executives to operating personnel, and to work independently as well as to lead a project from conception to completion.
  • Intellectual curiosity- Comfortable challenging the status quo and identifying new approaches to existing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Sound business acumen, with the ability to think strategically in addition to tactically. Ability to build and grow relationships.
  • Possess a positive attitude and establish good working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Measure effectiveness of all processes internal and external related to Finance department. Provide timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
