Job Title: Building Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Peoria, IL. As a Building Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety and enforcing building codes in our community.

Job Summary:

The Building Inspector will be responsible for conducting inspections of commercial and residential buildings to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations. This includes reviewing building plans, inspecting construction sites, and issuing permits and citations as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
  • Review building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
  • Issue permits and citations as necessary
  • Communicate with builders, architects, and engineers to resolve code compliance issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of building code enforcement policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field
  • Four to five years of experience in building code enforcement or a related field
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
