Position Overview:

Join our dedicated team at Carle Health as a Safety and Security Specialist. In this essential role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and staff within our innovative healthcare environment. Your contributions will be vital in safeguarding the property and maintaining a secure atmosphere for all.



Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
None Required

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's License upon hire and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI Training) within 3 months, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) or Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification (AHA) within 30 days.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with standard equipment utilized in performing essential job functions.
  • JPX Certification.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Proficient English Skills: Basic reading, writing, and oral communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals while maintaining confidentiality. Competence in using basic computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers. Comfortable navigating Windows OS and learning new software applications.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit professionalism in all job duties * Maintain a polished appearance and adhere to the department's dress code. * Remain vigilant and attentive to assigned responsibilities. * Represent the department positively during interactions with others. * Demonstrate reliability by consistently reporting for work on time and adhering to break schedules. * Uphold the integrity of the department by exercising authority appropriately. * Show initiative in completing all tasks and responsibilities. * Follow through on all assignments accurately.
  • Embrace the role of providing personal service * Deliver direct assistance or facilitate alternative arrangements. * Understand and accept the importance of support services. * Provide prompt and efficient responses to phone inquiries. * Utilize strong documentation skills for report writing and record-keeping. * Carry out specific security tasks as directed, such as money transports, escorts, and hazard inspections. * Conduct patrols of the facility and surrounding property. * Maintain order by enforcing all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to make informed decisions * Gather relevant information to inform decision-making. * Utilize common sense and good judgment in resolving issues. * Take initiative in decision-making and action-taking. * Maintain composure in high-pressure situations. * Stay informed about Security Department operations. * Implement CPI methods as a team member to manage aggressive or violent situations.
  • Effectively monitor security and fire alarm systems * Respond to emergencies, disasters, and alerts in accordance with established protocols. * Oversee access controls, panic alarms, fire alarms, intercoms, and CCTV systems. * Acknowledge incoming security calls or alarms and dispatch officers as needed. * Continuously enhance knowledge and skills to respond effectively during emergencies and non-emergencies. * Stay updated on all security policies and procedures.
