Position Overview

The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in managing general ledger reconciliations, budgeting processes, and account evaluations while delivering essential accounting support to the fiscal services division and hospital management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial reports in compliance with GAAP and GAAS standards while adhering to relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Generate monthly financial reports for the hospital and associated physician practices, including the preparation of monthly journal entries and accruals for various facilities.
  • Assist department heads in formulating their budget proposals and support the CFO in analyzing and reviewing these financial documents.
  • Compile the approved departmental budgets and oversee the creation of budget accountability reports to aid managers in monitoring expenses.
  • Develop and maintain amortization schedules for various financial instruments, including notes receivable and other contracts.
  • Update and manage records related to fixed assets and ongoing construction projects.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all general ledger balance sheet account reconciliations pertaining to fixed assets and construction in progress.
  • Prepare financial statements for affiliated entities.
  • Oversee all bank account reconciliations.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for prepaid expenses.
  • Conduct account analyses and serve as a liaison with auditors, preparing necessary documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Provide backup support for payroll and accounts payable functions. Prepare financial surveys on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Analyze and prepare investment reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field with a focus on Accounting.
Experience Requirements
  • Required: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in General Ledger and Budgeting.
  • Preferred: Three (3) or more years of experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance, including General Ledger, Budgeting, and Financial Analysis.
