Role of a Member Support Specialist
The Member Support Specialist at Channel Islands YMCA fosters a welcoming and positive environment for all individuals. This role involves addressing member and guest inquiries while promoting memberships and programs.
- Conduct interviews and facility tours for potential members to encourage new membership enrollments.
- Engage with members and oversee recruitment and retention tracking and reporting.
- Identify and consistently follow up with prospective members through branch promotions and software reports.
- Generate new membership leads through collaboration with the Program Coordinator/Director.
- Handle all inquiries regarding facility memberships in a prompt and professional manner.
- Manage member relations tasks, including addressing complaints and processing new memberships and monthly payments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of YMCA programs and assist with program enrollment.
- Adhere to check-in and service protocols.
- Follow cash management and receipting guidelines.
- Provide telephone reception services.
- Keep the Service Desk organized and ensure the lobby area is clean and tidy.
- Stock work areas with necessary forms and supplies.
- Stay informed about all program information and updates.
- Complete opening and closing procedures for the facility.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and build connections with members.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior customer service experience is preferred.
- Must complete required certifications within 30 days of employment.
- Must complete all necessary training specific to the branch and position within two weeks of employment.
- Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance is necessary.
