Job Title: Automation Systems Integration Engineer

The Automation Systems Integration Engineer will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of industrial automation control systems. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, as well as experience with process integration and electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop industrial electrical control panels that meet NFPA79/NEC/UL508A/CE compliance standards.
  • Create electrical and pneumatic schematics using CAD software.
  • Develop and implement PLC programs that interact with various subsystems, including conveyors, robots, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Implement safety systems that meet ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliance standards.
  • Design and develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for complex machinery.
  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, and pneumatic plumbing.
  • Select and size electrical and electromechanical components.
  • Introduce automated processes into production and train customer maintenance and production teams.
  • Develop machine interactions with plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to communicate machine status and process variables.
Requirements:
  • Experience with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A).
  • Knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
  • Knowledge of PackML and IEC 61131 is a plus.
  • Experience with PLCs (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and RSLogix 5000, Omron).
  • Experience with safety PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, SmartGuard, Beckhoff).
  • Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI/GUI - LabVIEW, AB PanelView, FactoryTalk, Ignition).
  • Experience with industrial Ethernet communications between machine PLCs and database systems.
  • Experience in programming PLCs and designing fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery.
  • Experience with SQL databases and Power BI.
  • AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Fusion PLM experience desired.
  • Ability to select appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, and robots.
  • Ability to create detailed electrical and pneumatic schematics in CAD.
  • Experience with a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment.
  • Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production desired.
  • Knowledge of production quality metrics is a plus.
  • Ability to use 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks is a plus.
Qualifications:
  • BS Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Applications Engineer working on Industrial Automation Control Systems.
