Overview:

The Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, developing, implementing, and enhancing processes to optimize schedule performance, reduce costs, and elevate quality. This role applies Lean and Value Analysis concepts within a high-volume automotive distribution and logistics setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Your Mission: Conduct thorough research and design initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, focusing on cost reduction and quality improvement through Lean and Value Engineering methodologies.
  • Utilize engineering principles, including mathematical modeling and statistical analysis, to create optimal process designs and resource utilization strategies.
  • Establish productivity metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) tailored for large-scale automotive warehousing operations.
  • Perform benchmarking and gap analysis against industry standards for order fulfillment and logistics processes, leading projects aimed at bridging these gaps.
  • Engage with equipment suppliers and third-party logistics providers to identify opportunities for productivity enhancements through emerging technologies.
  • Assist in modeling material flow paths and designing optimal storage solutions to minimize travel distances and errors.
  • Maintain effective communication with corporate and operational teams to ensure efficient operations and adequate capacity to meet demand.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate waste.
  • Regularly review team activities to identify potential outsourcing opportunities during peak workloads.
  • Maximize the use of technology and business intelligence to drive year-on-year improvements.
  • Collaborate with professionals across various Panasonic sites to ensure cohesive operations.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Management, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing or warehousing.
  • Experience in Labor Management is essential.
  • Familiarity with third-party logistics and managing both internal and external staff is preferred.
  • Proven ability to analyze material flow processes and implement improvements.
  • Expertise in continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, TPM, and Kaizen is required.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with both operational staff and senior management.
  • Project management experience in a diverse, multicultural environment is essential.
  • Proficiency in SAP Warehouse Management or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
