Overview

Our client is a leading investor-owned electric utility, serving over five million customers across multiple states. They rank among the largest electricity generators in the nation, with a significant capacity of nearly 38,000 megawatts. The client also possesses the largest electricity transmission network in the country, comprising nearly 39,000 miles of ultra-high voltage lines, surpassing all other U.S. systems combined.
Job Description:
The role involves supporting the procurement of land, land rights, licenses, leases, permits, and other essential documents for the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution lines. This includes maintaining accurate records related to these acquisitions.
The responsibilities include:
- Assisting in negotiations with property owners for the acquisition of necessary rights for electric distribution facilities.
- Collaborating with supervisors to resolve damage claims related to property impacted by utility operations.
- Conducting research in public records to ascertain property ownership and interests.
- Drafting legal documents such as easements, licenses, and contracts under supervision.
- Providing functional support to various business units regarding land rights acquisition processes.
- Working with different departments to address challenges in right-of-way procurement.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with landowners and government agencies.
- Ensuring adherence to safety practices to protect employees and the public.
- Responding proactively to inquiries and concerns regarding right-of-way activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Associate's degree in business, real estate, engineering, paralegal studies, or a related field, or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Two years of experience in right-of-way procurement, title research, or surveying.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a Notary Commission within six months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to traverse long distances and navigate challenging terrains.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
This position is hybrid, requiring initial in-office training followed by a flexible work schedule.
