We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at Rex Anatomic Pathology, a part of UNC Health. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in supporting clinical activities by preparing tissue samples for pathologists to determine the cause of death, disease, and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and resolve issues with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
- Participate in teams or special projects, and perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
- Prepare tissue slides by processing, embedding, sectioning, examining, and staining tissues from various sources.
- Perform routine and specialized test procedures, and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
- Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees.
- Prepare specimens and reagents, and provide leadership and guidance to coworkers.
- Report results to healthcare providers, and consult with them regarding test results.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biological Science.
- HTL(ASCP) certification within two years from date of hire.
- Relevant laboratory experience, depending on degree and certification.
