Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service: Coordinate the preparation and serving of food according to menus and portion sizes, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Delegates and performs cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of equipment and work areas, dishwashing and pot washing, to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinates the ordering and receiving of all food, beverage, and paper products needed for daily service, ensuring that all inventory is properly stored and managed.
  • Customer Service: Delivers food to staff, students, and catering clients, ensuring that all customers receive excellent service and a high-quality dining experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and local health department requirements for safe food handling, including proper food storage, handling, and preparation.
  • Team Management: Manages and follows assigned break schedules, ensures that all team members are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties, and promotes a positive and professional work environment.
  • Financial Management: Manages POS/cash handling by team members and confirms all deposits, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate and secure.
  • Professional Development: Attends all mandatory in-service programs and stays up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on culinary arts or a related field.
  • Training and Certification: Must complete all Whitsons and other mandated training as necessary, including food safety and handling certification.
Other Qualifications and Competencies
  • Communication Skills: Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments, as well as communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Teamwork and Leadership: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, lead by example, and promote a positive and professional work culture.
Physical Demands of the Job
  • Standing and Walking: Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear, with occasional sitting and reaching.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with occasional bending and twisting.
  • Visual Requirements: Specific vision abilities required, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
