We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Assistant Professor/Surgical Technologist Program Coordinator to join our team at Baltimore City Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and coordinating the Surgical Technology program, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching: Design and teach assigned class sessions, leveraging digital content and multimedia resources in the classroom.
- Clinical Coordination: Coordinate student field experiences off campus, develop research experiences, and organize educational experiences leading to student credentialing and gainful employment as a Surgical Technologist.
- Individualized Instruction: Identify individual learning styles and unique needs of culturally diverse students, traditional vs. non-traditional, and those at-risk.
- Assessment: Provide input for the development of department standards and policies, use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate learning, and incorporate current research in assessment and evaluation practices.
- Curriculum Design and Development: Actively participate in the curriculum design to reflect institutional philosophy and mission, current trends and best practices, community and societal needs, educational principles, theory, and research.
- Professional Development: Maintain membership in professional organizations, participate actively in professional organizations, and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of proven current surgical technology experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five (5) years.
- Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
- Master's degree in healthcare or related field.
- Previous teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with curriculum development using instructional technology and the Canvas Learning Management System is preferred.
- Sitting in a normal position for extended periods.
- Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
- Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects and medical and simulation equipment with fingers, whole hand(s), and arms.
- Communication skills using the spoken word.
- Ability to see within normal parameters.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
