BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the general oversight of the Director of Theater Operations and Facility Permits, this role involves the organization, coordination, and support of event operations at designated performance venues for various events including student performances and community rentals. Responsibilities include arranging for the upkeep of facilities and equipment, overseeing the rental permit office, and providing technical support to student crews and operational staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent AND relevant coursework or certification in theater production or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three (3) years in technical theater or theater production, with hands-on experience in stage lighting, sound, and rigging. Experience in providing technical guidance to student crews is preferred.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Maintains a comprehensive calendar of events for the performance venues, coordinating all requirements for performances including load-ins, rehearsals, and technical guidance for crews.
- Develops and implements operational guidelines for facility usage, ensuring compliance with joint use agreements.
- Collaborates with administrative staff to determine on-campus facility usage.
- Engages with community representatives and event planners regarding facility availability and scheduling.
- Monitors expenses and recommends equipment purchases as necessary.
- Coordinates maintenance of facilities and equipment, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Schedules and directs theater operations staff and student assistants to provide technical and ushering support, establishing effective customer service standards.
- Interprets and applies relevant district policies and safety regulations, guiding staff in compliance with safety procedures.
- Conducts pre- and post-event facility inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and event organizer plans.
- Acts as a liaison with various event personnel including security and medical staff.
- Principles and practices related to event service requirements for diverse events.
- Technical and operational aspects of theater productions including lighting, sound, and rigging.
- Stagecraft operations and safety regulations governing public assembly.
- Effective customer service techniques.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Effectively communicate with diverse groups and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Plan and oversee multiple projects with varying timelines.
- Work independently while managing general supervision.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Theater Operations and Facility Permits, providing guidance to student crews and operational staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is conducted in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands. Irregular hours may be required.
