Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Landau Fellow, Family Programs. This two-year fixed term position will provide hands-on experience coordinating the day-to-day administration of our family programs, interpretive resources, and hands-on spaces for kids and families.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the administration, day-to-day coordination, marketing, registration, and reporting of Family Gallery Talks, Family Art Workshops, Family Art Making, cultural celebrations, and special events.
  • Correspond and work directly with the public, as well as with contract teaching artists, volunteers, Learning and Engagement, and Membership staff.
  • Draft surveys and analyze and report on data.
  • Work with the Interpretation, Research, and Digital Learning team on the development of Museum-wide resources for family engagement, including kids labels, audio, and printed guides.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of Art Lab, including coordinating facilitator schedules, ordering supplies, liaising with staff, troubleshooting, and keeping Learning and Engagement staff informed of any issues that need to be addressed.
  • Oversee outreach emails and marketing newsletters, including researching content, drafting copy, liaising with editors, scheduling communications, and building newsletters in Emarsys.
  • Work across the Museum with Membership, Visitor Engagement, Communications, and Creative Team colleagues to support family engagement.
  • Coordinate outreach to New York City Department of Education contacts and community partner organizations.
  • Assist with the opening of a new installation in Art Lab, including preparing resources, testing activities, organizing supplies, and observing how visitors engage in the space.
  • Participate in training to learn best practices for museum teaching with the goal of developing a teaching practice; when ready, can periodically lead Family Gallery Talks.
  • Gain experience planning and developing programs for families, including gallery and art-making experiences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in art, science, or fine arts in art history, art or museum education, fine arts, or education.
  • Basic knowledge of modern and contemporary art/artists.
  • Experience working with children and/or families in an educational environment; museum education preferred.
  • Exceptional skills communicating, organizing, collaborating, writing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Personable, flexible, intuitive, detail-oriented, and a sense of humor.
  • Some museum teaching experience is preferred.
  • Ability to speak a second language is helpful.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Experience working with underserved and underrepresented audiences.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Emarsys, Splash, and Adobe InDesign.
