Job Description

The Thermal Performance Engineer will be executing highly technical services on various turbine models covering gas turbine and combined cycle applications. The successful execution of these global services will require that you adhere to internal processes while being open to the challenges that may arise. Our engineers are accountable for the quality our customers feel when purchasing our services. Areas of customer quality include accurate/timely documentation, appropriate/timely installation of instrumentation, accurate collection of field data, various site activities, and communications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute highly technical services on steam turbine, gas turbine, and combined cycle power plants
  • Review commercial guarantees, test expectations/requirements, and develop performance test procedures in accordance with contracts and international standards
  • Prepare, plan, and execute field thermal performance tests
  • Analyze data, calculate test results, diagnose and evaluate testing and thermal performance issues
  • Analyze and develop thermal performance corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare test reports for internal and external distribution
  • Execute statistical risk and error propagation analyses
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers regarding testing activities, schedules, technical issues, and test results
  • Support continued development and improvement of performance analysis tools and processes
  • Support new service development initiatives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in thermal performance engineering)
  • Strong thermodynamic skills
  • Ability to travel extensively in support of global assignments (up to 50%)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Prior experience in power plant performance testing and analysis
  • Training or proficiency in turbine design
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Familiarity with thermal imaging technologies
  • Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Greenbelt Certified (GE employees only)
