Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree is preferred for validating responsibilities.
  • Experience:
    • Acute Care: A minimum of three pharmacy skills is required, including but not limited to medication distribution, sterile compounding, and controlled substance management. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in acute care and demonstrate proficiency in a third pharmacy skill.
    • Outpatient Oncology: At least four years of experience in any pharmacy setting, with two years focused on sterile compounding (IV and/or chemotherapy admixture), is necessary.
    • Specialty Pharmacy: A minimum of four years of experience in any pharmacy environment is required, with two years in a specialty setting.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current registration with the applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy is mandatory.
    • PTCB or NHA Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
    • Two relevant specialized certificates from approved vendors are required, with completion within 12 months of hire.
  • Essential Skills:
    • State registration and renewal evidence is required for all technicians.
    • Strong mathematical skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and proficiency in following instructions are essential.
    • Ability to travel to various locations as needed and work collaboratively within a high-performing team.
  • Preferred Skills: Knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic), their administration routes, and potential adverse effects is advantageous. Experience in inventory management is also preferred.
