Job Description

City Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. As a key player in our revenue cycle management, you will ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for our essential services.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services.
  • Ensure accurate coding and billing by carefully reviewing patient medical records.
  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies promptly.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within the designated billing cycle.
  • Address and resolve billing discrepancies and denials with insurance providers.
  • Review and appeal unpaid or denied claims as necessary.
  • Accurately record payments and adjustments on patient accounts.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals regarding billing and payment issues.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in medical terminology, including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Knowledgeable about insurance guidelines and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification as a Professional Biller (CPB) is preferred but not required.
