Job Summary

The U.S. Department of the Treasury is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Individual Taxpayer Advisory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and guidance to taxpayers on individual tax matters, ensuring they are in compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to taxpayers on individual tax matters, including income tax, employment tax, and excise tax.
  • Conduct interviews with taxpayers to determine their tax situation and provide advice on tax law implications.
  • Review and analyze tax returns and other financial documents to identify potential issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Communicate with taxpayers and their representatives to explain tax law and regulations, and provide guidance on tax compliance.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, including individual income tax returns and employment tax returns.
Requirements
  • Must have a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, including the Internal Revenue Code and related regulations.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with taxpayers and their representatives.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex tax issues.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain accurate records and files.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, and the selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. The selected candidate will also be required to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
