Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Automation Systems Engineer to contribute to our operations. This pivotal role enhances productivity and efficiency through the integration of automation solutions for conventional machining equipment across various operational cells. The selected candidate will outline the necessary steps, processes, and specifications to implement robotics and other automation technologies, thereby optimizing machine shop performance.

This role involves leading a collaborative team that will engage with the design and prototype unit to establish required testing protocols, followed by working closely with the Operations team to seamlessly integrate these systems into high-volume manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to set clear objectives and efficiency targets for the automation of machining cells and work centers.
  • Translate management's vision into a detailed action plan, complete with metrics and timelines, culminating in a comprehensive business case that outlines anticipated efficiencies and financial implications.
  • Facilitate discussions regarding cell/system design with integrators and internal stakeholders, overseeing installation and validation activities.
  • Refine processes and requirements while establishing a testing and implementation timeline. Testing will occur in designated labs before rollout in production settings.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of new processes and equipment, addressing successes, challenges, and obstacles in relation to original targets and metrics, with monthly updates as required.
  • Lead the formation and execution of a cross-functional team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in robotics or automation.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and automation safety standards in design and application.
  • Proven project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and Studio 5000.
  • Experience in cross-functional project execution.
  • Ability to research and engage with decision-makers through effective questioning and active listening.
  • Experience in ISO 9000/14000 environments is advantageous.
  • Must comply with U.S. export control laws.
