Key Responsibilities


The Controls Engineer plays a crucial role in the programming, documentation, training, and expertise of plant-wide instrumentation, controls, and other strategic systems, as well as the computer integration of manufacturing processes and equipment.

This position involves managing projects and providing facility support as needed. The Controls Engineer will collaborate closely with all manufacturing personnel and management.

Daily Duties Include:

- Supporting strategic software initiatives and corporate rollouts related to plant projects.
- Designing and engineering controls and instrumentation.
- Developing electrical systems to support process and utility systems.
- Overseeing the selection, procurement, and installation of instruments and control systems.
- Assisting plant personnel in troubleshooting operational issues from a controls engineering perspective.
- Training plant staff on new and upgraded systems.
- Customizing software solutions based on specific requirements.
- Performing all necessary programming of control systems.
- Collaborating with vendors, construction administrators, and project teams.

Conducting and documenting technical design reviews with other project disciplines to ensure the highest quality standards.

Participating in contract administration.
- Managing and executing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Effectively prioritizing tasks to meet cost and schedule constraints.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

Workplace Safety:
- Completing safety system documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards. Reporting any deviations to the Supervisor.
- Participating in mandatory safety training and adhering to all safety policies.
- Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries.

Quality & Food Safety:
- Completing quality and food safety system documentation and ensuring compliance with program standards. Reporting any deviations to the Supervisor.
- Participating in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements.
- Upholding the integrity of the BRC system by adhering to outlined policies and procedures and taking necessary actions to resolve any deficiencies in food safety and quality systems.

- Has knowledge of process control systems (e.g., utility controls; steam, water, and air).
- Can configure industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives.
- Is capable of navigating multiple flights of stairs, ladders, and/or working in confined spaces under challenging conditions.
- Can lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Possesses knowledge of Controllogix processors, Rslogix 5000 software, AOI blocks programming, object-oriented programming, Factory Talk SE, VBA scripting, Wonderware GUI, Wonderware services, Wonderware Historian, Dream Reports programming, electrical control, instrumentation, and Allen Bradley VFDs, preferably the 525 series.
