Work Schedule: Thursday, Friday, 8am-8pm and Saturday 7am-7pm with on-call duties and rotating holidays

General Overview of the Role

The MRI Technologist will execute a variety of intricate, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures.
  2. Assist radiologists with procedure protocol and execution. Initiate IVs and administer contrast media as per protocol.
  3. Assess MR scans for technical quality, organize processed images, and label them appropriately.
  4. Schedule patient appointments and assist with administrative tasks.
  5. Document MR procedures and supplies in the electronic health record.
  6. Operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
  7. Maintain precise patient records.
  8. Provide orientation and training for new technologists.
  9. Support the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing MR procedures.
  10. Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
  11. Perform complex tasks related to high field strength magnets to produce specialized radiographic images.
  12. Position patients for MR scans using necessary immobilization and protective equipment.
  13. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow across multiple MR locations.
  14. Assist in the education and training of new physicians, including interns and residents.
  15. Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to develop innovative protocols and MR imaging techniques.
  16. Facilitate research initiatives by utilizing established scanning protocols.
  17. Demonstrate proficiency in over 100 MR protocols within the health system and teach these protocols to new staff and researchers.
  18. Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

Completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds the necessary registry or certification.

Experience

Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment. Level II requires a minimum of two years' experience as an MRI technologist. Level III necessitates at least four years' experience in the specialty modality for promotion.

Licensure and Certification

Certification in one of the following is required: Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or registry eligible for Magnetic Resonance (MR). ARRT or ARMRIT registration in Magnetic Resonance (MR) is required within 18 months of employment. BLS certification is also required.
