With 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, it is the largest facility within the Duke Health system, offering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.
Position DetailsWork Schedule: 3rd Shift, Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient screenings for MR safety prior to procedures.
- Assist radiologists in protocol development and execution during imaging procedures.
- Administer contrast media and start IVs as per established protocols.
- Evaluate the quality of MR scans, ensuring proper labeling and sequencing of images.
- Manage patient scheduling and clerical tasks related to imaging services.
- Accurately document charges for MR procedures and supplies in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
- Maintain comprehensive patient records and provide orientation for new staff.
- Educate and train student technologists in MR procedures.
- Address the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing MR imaging.
- Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
- Perform advanced tasks associated with high field strength magnets to generate specialized radiographic images.
- Position patients appropriately for MR scans, using necessary immobilization and protective equipment.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to develop innovative imaging protocols.
- Support research initiatives by applying established scanning protocols.
- Participate in the training of new physicians, including interns and residents.

Qualifications
Education: Completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for certification or currently holds the necessary certification.
Experience: Level I candidates must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months. Level II requires a minimum of two years of experience as an MRI technologist, while Level III necessitates at least four years of experience in the specialty modality.
Licensure and Certification: Required certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or registry eligibility for Magnetic Resonance (MR). ARRT or ARMRIT registration in Magnetic Resonance (MR) is required within 18 months of employment, along with BLS certification.
