Job Title: Painter/Glazier/Plasterer 'B'Job Summary

The School District Of Philadelphia is seeking a skilled Painter/Glazier/Plasterer 'B' to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to painting, glazing, and plastering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and difficult painting tasks, including cleaning and repairing work areas.
  • Mix paints to match existing colors and perform sign painting and lettering.
  • Perform varnishing and glazing work, including removing broken or old glass, puttying, cutting glass, and installing new glass.
  • Mix plastering materials, build and disassemble scaffolding, and perform duties from a scaffold as necessary.
  • Perform tasks such as plastering, grouting, rough casting, tile work, lathing, and plaster molding.
  • Remove plaster, prepare surfaces for plastering, patch plaster walls and ceilings, and apply various plaster finishes.
  • Remove and replace broken or cracked glass, both inside and outside of School District buildings.
  • Clean work areas after construction or repair work has been performed and clean and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are kept in proper condition and are protected against damage and deterioration.
  • Maintain adequate safety measures and may estimate, order, and transport necessary materials to complete work orders at assigned locations.
  • Oversee the work of trainees in the trade and prepare reports indicating work done.
Requirements
  • Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
  • Three years of experience in the appropriate trade's area as an apprentice.
  • Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of appointment.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to perform tasks that may involve physical labor, exposure to hazardous materials, and working at heights.
