The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function, as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. They will also possess basic commercial awareness and developed communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and convince others.
The Payroll Senior Manager will have full management responsibility of a team, including management of people, budget, and planning. This includes duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations. They will also be responsible for budget approval and may have responsibility for planning, budgeting, and policy formulation within their area of expertise.
The successful candidate will manage one or more payroll teams, advise senior management regarding performance of assigned payroll areas, and research and respond promptly to inquiries and issues. They will also work with other Citi Employee Service units to resolve issues and manage the documentation of policies and procedures.
The Payroll Senior Manager will assess and monitor reasonableness of data, identify discrepancies, and perform analysis of and resolve complex issues. They will also assign projects and team deliverables, provide training, assistance, and mentoring to the team, and provide backup to Payroll Operations/Tax Reporting Group Manager.
The ideal candidate will serve as a representative and consultant on external project/meeting calls, partner with businesses to identify issues and required business specifications, and evaluate subordinates' performance and make recommendations for pay increases, hiring, terminations, and other personnel actions.
The Payroll Senior Manager will direct area supported through responsibility for delivery of end results and shared responsibility for budget management. They will be accountable for resource planning, ensure essential procedures are followed, and contribute to defining standards.
The successful candidate will manage on-going risk & controls and related reporting, including quarterly MCA, Ops Loss reporting, etc. They will also coordinate NAM Payroll pillar teams during internal control reviews, internal audits (IA), and local regulatory reviews, ensuring quality and timely provision of deliverables.
The Payroll Senior Manager will collaborate with GPS Global Governance, Process Taxonomy & Transformation and R&C teams, and serve as NAM Payroll Employee Experience Champion. They will also appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 6-10 years of experience in a related role commensurate with people management experience.
- Ability to provide evaluative judgment based on analysis.
- Excellent written / verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Capable of working on multiple projects independently at the same time.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with evidence of working in collaboration across large organizations.
Education:
Bachelors/University degree, Masters degree preferred.
