Job Title: Lead Driver

Staples is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Driver to join our World Class Supply Chain Team. As a Lead Driver, you will play a critical role in delivering essential products to our customers, while also training and mentoring new delivery drivers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train and mentor new delivery drivers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the role.
  • Fill in for supervisors and cover drivers as needed to ensure seamless delivery operations.
  • Lead daily completion of work, including scheduling and assisting with deliveries, performing routing functions, and partnering with the Supervisor to address and resolve any issues.
  • Transport products safely and deliver office supplies on your assigned route to customers.
  • Manage routes for drivers in the building, ensuring efficient delivery routes and schedules.
  • At times, load vehicles and organize and load product for delivery, utilizing the manifest to ensure the most efficient delivery route and schedule.
  • Ensure safe work practices and foster a safety culture within the team.
  • Provide customer support, accept product returns, and empower customers to make their day.
Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license with a safe driving history acceptable to the company.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen (no THC) to the extent legally permissible.
  • Basic English language skills (both verbal and written communications).
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs, push and pull items weighing up to 400lbs with the assistance of hand carts/material handling equipment, and occasionally maneuver up to 130lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1-year of truck driving experience (operating a 16ft or longer straight truck) or comparable driving experience.
  • High volume/small package delivery experience.
