Job SummaryWe are seeking a Part Time Molecular Technologist to join our team in New Orleans, LA. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical and scientific processes and procedures in a high complexity molecular testing clinical laboratory.
Responsibilities- Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including testing and tasks of the medical technologist/clinical laboratory scientist.
- Receive, accession, and process incoming specimens.
- Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis.
- Responsible for quality control procedures and documentation.
- Recognize deviation from expected results; analyze and correct the problem; document corrective actions taken as indicated in established laboratory procedures.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment.
- Identify malfunctions or issues with equipment and perform troubleshooting when appropriate.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) in all applicable areas to assure accuracy of laboratory results.
- Verify and report results in a timely manner.
- Adhere to and ensure laboratory staff are adhering to OSHA, CLIA, CAP, HIPAA regulations.
- Manage reagent and expendables inventory to ensure patient testing is not interrupted and utilize laboratory supplies in a cost-effective manner with a minimum of waste.
- Assist with testing, implementation, and validation of new procedures and instrumentation.
- Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist Certification.
- Louisiana license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Technician.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques. PCR experience preferred.
