Job Summary
The Lower Eastside Service Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Resident Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will provide a supportive setting for residents, staff, and visitors, ensuring outreach, crisis management, and life skills functions are being provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet and greet residents and staff, checking identifications and announcing visitors.
- Maintain a daily log of complaints and incidents in the building.
- Provide assistance to clients during outside agency home visits.
- Call 911 in emergencies and inform the Emergency Operator.
- Support and assist individuals in developing skills for independence, community involvement, and improved quality of life.
- Address and access client needs in crisis situations, following protocols in the LESC Policy and Procedure handbook.
- Engage tenants with outreach and life skills regarding substance use, HIV/AIDS, and overall health.
- Assist tenants with complaint forms, work orders, and relay information to staff for follow-up.
- Answer central telephones and relay messages to staff and residents.
- Record and maintain incident logs.
- Monitor resident activity and ensure their safety.
- Assist program staff as needed.
Requirements
- Fireguard (F-01) Certification required or must be attained within the first 6 months of employment.
- High School Diploma, GED, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and/or training and experience.
- Experience in permanent or transitional housing, or community facilities, or related social services areas.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
- Sensitivity to issues involved in working with diverse populations is essential.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
Working Conditions
This part-time position requires working Saturday and Sunday from 12AM to 8AM. The hourly rate is $21.20, including night differential.
