Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Trade Services Specialist to join our US Trade Services Standby Letter of Credit Team within the Commercial Banking Operations Division. This role is essential in enhancing our service delivery and ensuring client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Trade Service Representatives to provide exceptional client service.
  • Support trade service managers by offering constructive feedback and recommendations for the development of junior staff.
  • Evaluate and provide insights on performance, including recommendations for promotions and salary adjustments for less experienced team members.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and retention, addressing any international banking concerns that arise.
  • Conduct training and coaching for junior staff, managing daily workflows and resolving both routine and complex issues.
  • Oversee the issuance, advising, and amendment of letters of credit, as well as the negotiation of related documents, ensuring compliance with Trade Services standards.
  • Identify growth opportunities through client referrals and suggest improvements to existing policies and procedures.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of complex letter of credit documentation, relevant regulations, bank operations, and associated credit risks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and management to resolve challenges and achieve departmental goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Trade Services or a combination of relevant work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Experience with Standby Letters of Credit.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to actively listen and address client needs.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Fast and accurate typing skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Leadership experience in coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) is a plus.
Job Expectations:
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed.
  • Ability to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.
