About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing support to our members and helping them succeed in their personal and academic endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized and group support to members, focusing on crisis intervention, behavior management, and social skills development.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of programs that promote social-emotional learning and mental health services.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans to ensure timely and effective support for members.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to ensure that all members have a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian.
  • Set goals and provide guidance to staff on behavior intervention supports for each member on their caseload.
  • Report and document critical incidents to site leadership.
  • Communicate and collaborate with partners regarding program activities.
  • Provide access to assessment and other available data for program evaluation.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent experience in child psychology or psychology.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to motivate children and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to organize and supervise children in a safe environment.
  • Ability to work with the general public (both verbal and written).
Work Environment

The employee will work primarily indoors with outdoor activities when weather permits. The environment may fluctuate between various noise levels based on activity. Employee will be required to read, hear, and write daily. Physical agility and ability to react to emergency situations is required. Moderate standing, walking, bending, and sitting throughout the day with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
