Job Title: Dermatology Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dermatology Technician to join our team at REN Dermatology. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our dermatologists and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient intake and medication reconciliation.
  • Participate in patient treatment regimen, including drawing up and administering medications under the supervision of a provider.
  • Perform suture removals, blood draws, TB skin tests, urine pregnancy tests, and IM/IL injections.
  • Prepare patients for medical tests and examinations.
  • Assist providers during medical examinations, surgical excisions, cosmetic laser services, and other cosmetic procedures.
  • Document patient diagnosis, treatment plan, and prescriptions in our Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Educate patients and families on follow-up care, medication side effects, and treatment protocols.
  • Sterilize medical instruments.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepare exam rooms at the beginning and end of the day and between each patient contact.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by following and enforcing OSHA standards and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Exhibit excellent patient care and customer service skills.
  • Participate in staff meetings and organizational programs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a medical office, preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic nursing principles and protocols.
  • Policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
  • Appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods.
  • Health information management by appropriately charting patient data.

Working Conditions:

This position requires a combination of office, exam, and other clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic setting.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This position requires varied activities, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. Occasionally lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions.
