Position Summary:

The Recovery Coach plays a crucial role in offering peer support services to individuals dealing with substance use disorders (SUD). This position is essential in guiding patients towards achieving long-term recovery.

  • Facilitates access to recovery-focused treatment options, community resources, and support groups.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to enhance patient care in a nurturing and encouraging manner.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and support service providers.
  • Understands community dynamics to effectively address recovery barriers and tailor health communications.
  • Provides assistance at outreach events and clinics.
  • Conducts home, shelter, or community visits as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate's Degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
  • Completion of the Recovery Coach Academy is mandatory.

Experience:

  • Personal experience with substance use disorder is essential.
  • Preferred two years of experience in healthcare or substance abuse support services.
  • Familiarity with community resources is necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is required.

Licensure and Skills:

  • Certification as an Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Local travel is necessary; a valid driver's license and access to transportation are required.
  • CPR/BLS certification is mandatory.

Interpersonal Skills and Expectations:

  • Commitment to serving medically underserved populations.
  • Flexibility in adapting to new health service delivery methods.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred but not required.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing responsibilities effectively.
  • Awareness of available resources to meet patient needs.
  • Dedication to providing patient-centered, culturally competent, and equitable healthcare.
  • Adherence to HIPAA policies regarding personal health information.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Lead Case Manager.
