Position Overview:
As a key member of the finance team, the Senior Accountant and Student Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations related to student accounts and ensuring accurate billing and collections. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting students throughout their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the billing and invoicing processes for student accounts and miscellaneous receivables.
  • Address inquiries from students and stakeholders through various communication channels.
  • Develop and implement procedures for the timely recording of account receivables.
  • Reconcile student account receivables and deposits with the general ledger.
  • Prepare and distribute precise monthly billing statements to students.
  • Assist in the review and reconciliation of financial assistance with the co-controller.
  • Coordinate with customer service specialists to process refund payments efficiently.
  • Initiate communication regarding overdue student accounts.
  • Apply necessary charges to student accounts as required.
  • Supervise and train student workers, ensuring effective scheduling and task management.
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of 1098-T forms.
  • Manage the collection and reporting of College loan programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding loan programs.
  • Oversee the CashNet software system for student payments and payment plans.
  • Assist in reconciling outside scholarship accounts with student accounts and the general ledger.
  • Supervise customer service specialists and other assigned duties.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Candidates with a strong background in student accounts and accounting practices are preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Expertise in student account management and accounting principles.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using personal computers for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Analytical skills for effective reconciliation and invoicing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and customer service excellence.
  • Flexibility to work in a collaborative team environment.
