As a Lead Software Solutions Engineer within our Digital Journey Product division, you will collaborate within a highly skilled agile team that drives the advancement of Discover's renowned Mobile application, leveraging the latest Discover platforms for continuous integration and cloud-based development.
The Lead Software Solutions Engineer brings a wealth of experience in delivering impactful software solutions, adept at troubleshooting and resolving challenges efficiently. This role emphasizes design and documentation, with a focus on modern software development.
The Lead Software Solutions Engineer serves as the technical cornerstone of the team, promoting collaboration, mentoring peers, and providing strategic guidance while contributing to the creation of contemporary software. Approach your work with a product-oriented mindset, ready to innovate, develop, and sustain mobile solutions that meet business requirements and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops solutions that address significant technological and business priorities
- Proficient in various contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business sectors, becoming a key resource for many stakeholders
- Engages in strategic technology discussions and understands their implications for Discover as a whole
- Proactively identifies and addresses issues based on intuition and expertise across multiple domains
- Mentors technology communities within Discover
Essential Qualifications
To qualify, you should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Internal candidates: technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Advantages If You Have:
- Leadership experience, including cross-team collaboration
- Experience in system design and architecture
- Expertise in object-oriented design and implementation, with a deep understanding of our frameworks and languages
- Experience in Mobile application development
- Familiarity with React Native, Redux, and Frontend application frameworks
- Experience in REST Web Services development
- Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, Cucumber, etc.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, GitHub, and Git Command line is a plus
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to collaborate with peers to resolve complex issues
- Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team
- Experience in applying security principles to mobile applications
- Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies
- Proven ability in designing for high availability and scalability, along with performance monitoring

Compensation:
The base salary for this position typically ranges between $104,000.00 to $175,000. Additional incentives may be included as part of a competitive total compensation package. Factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may influence the salary for this role.
