Job Summary
The Zhu Lab at Scripps Research is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant I to join our team of researchers in vaccine development for diverse viral pathogens. This individual will contribute to various projects, assisting Staff Scientist and Principal Investigator, and may be recognized as a contributor to resulting publications. Responsibilities will include performing molecular biology and protein experiments, such as DNA cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, bacterial transformation, protein analysis, and mammalian cell culture.
About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to work in a laboratory environment, contributing to cutting-edge research in vaccine development. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, with a keen interest in learning and adapting to new techniques. The Zhu Lab is focused on rational vaccine design for HIV, SARS-CoV-2, HCV, filovirus, RSV, influenza, and other viral pathogens.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, with a strong foundation in laboratory techniques.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
