Position Overview :

ROLE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading the development of sophisticated application solutions, typically as part of a collaborative project team or in a support capacity. Developers are tasked with analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and implementing intricate systematic solutions that fulfill customer needs while adhering to Highmark IT standards and policies. Additionally, developers provide ongoing support to ensure that complex applications meet the required service levels, system availability, performance, and quality expectations of their clients. There may be opportunities to mentor junior team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of complex application enhancements, while also providing general production support, ensuring alignment with defined scope, timelines, and budgets with minimal defects.
  • Engage in the comprehensive system development life cycle, following current Highmark SDLC standards.
  • Collaborate with customers, business analysts, partners, and IT team members to gather business requirements that inform the analysis and design of high-quality technical solutions, focusing on innovative approaches to complex business challenges.
  • Provide necessary technical support, including release implementations and on-call support as required.
  • Conduct work in compliance with all Highmark and Highmark IT standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively participate in project teams in various roles, including Developer, Technical Lead, and Project Manager, based on experience level.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, partners, and management, including conducting technical walkthroughs, reporting project status, enabling vendor solutions, and providing clear documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

Substitutions

  • None.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a developer.
  • Proficiency with Project Management tools.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages.

Preferred

  • Experience with .NET framework.
  • Knowledge of SQL.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, root cause analysis, and issue resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in the Healthcare or Health Insurance sector.
  • Familiarity with technology platforms, application development tools, and the software development life cycle utilized by Highmark.

Compensation Range:

$67,500.00 - $124,800.00

Base pay is determined by various factors including qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal equity and market considerations.
