Job Summary

The Fabrication Quality Control Inspector at PowerSecure is responsible for ensuring the quality and conformity of fabricated materials, welds, paint, and powder coating for products manufactured, packaged, and assembled at our facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of quality assurance principles, welding techniques, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Inspect fabricated materials, welds, paint, and powder coating to ensure conformance with design documents, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications, including proper dimension, joint strength, weld penetration, and conformance with work-order specifications.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work, and inputting data into the database.
  • Identify and follow proper procedures for non-conforming material, and assist in ensuring all non-conforming reports (NCR) are tracked and recorded.
  • Communicate and cooperate with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments to ensure quality compliance and continual product improvement.
Requirements
  • 2+ years' experience in roles related to quality assurance and/or fabrication.
  • Recognize and understand a wide variety of welding techniques.
  • Weld, Paint, or Fabrication knowledge and experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, mechanical drawings, Weld and Coating symbols, work instructions, and written directions.
  • Must be capable of using computer software to enter information in the database.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Excellent proficiency of the English language (verbal communication, listening, written communication).
  • One or more of the following certifications is preferred: Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI), Paint Inspector qualification, and/or Certified Quality Inspector (CQQI). However, these certifications are not required.
  • Demonstrated competency with quality control processes, and a passion for right-the-first-time quality.
  • Possess unquestionable Integrity (do the right thing, honesty, clear communications, adherence, and leadership on all aspects of financial and policy compliance).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Limited local travel will be required. Less than 10%.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and to position oneself in various positions, including low to the ground or high up on equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables.
  • Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC's, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.
  • Typical work environment will be conditioned space. Limited local travel may be required that will change the work environment. This is an active manufacturing setting; at times it will be noisy, and equipment will be moving.
