Overview of the Coronary Care Unit
The Coronary Care Unit is a 12-bed cardiac intensive care unit that provides specialized care for complex cardiac critical care patients. Our team of experienced nurses receives advanced training to care for patients with conditions such as structural heart disease, pre-cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure, and cardiogenic shock.
Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Critical Care Technician will assist patients with daily living activities and develop a plan of care. The successful candidate will communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
The Critical Care Technician will maintain high standards of professional ethics and demonstrate a commitment to patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and mobility assistance.
- Perform technical duties as directed by the RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and Foley catheter care.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond accordingly.
- Reinforce patient education and safety information to patients and their families.
- Participate in Cooper's patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
Requirements
0-2 years of experience preferred
Education and Qualifications
High School / GED
Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program
Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN program
1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role
AHA Basic Life Support certification required
