Job Title: Network Engineer 1

The One 23 Group, a Virginia-based Government Contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer 1 to join our team in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Network Engineer to provide essential support in monitoring, designing, and troubleshooting networks and systems to ensure security and performance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with network backbone technologies such as Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Monitoring & Cybersecurity: Monitor networks and systems for cyber threats and vulnerabilities, identifying and addressing potential security risks.
  • Network Design & Troubleshooting: Design, support, and troubleshoot client networks, including wide area networks (WAN), local area networks (LAN), servers, routers, and switches.
  • Security Architecture: Validate and test complex security architecture, ensuring that systems meet security standards.
  • Product Evaluation & Implementation: Perform product evaluations and recommend network security services and solutions to improve the overall network security posture.
  • Penetration Testing Support: Conduct network mapping, including Wireless Access Point (WAP) detection, to support penetration testing and other security assessments.
  • User Needs & System Requirements: Analyze user needs and system requirements to design, monitor, and maintain computer networks tailored to the client's operational needs.
  • Emerging Technology Integration: Provide architectural and engineering support for integrating emerging technologies into network backbone systems.
  • Team Leadership & Delegation: Delegate tasks to network engineering staff and provide thought leadership in the design and implementation of cyber network infrastructure.
  • System Maintenance: Install or upgrade software and hardware, and troubleshoot network components as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the network.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience with network technologies, including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and hands-on experience in implementing network security.
  • Certifications:
    • REQUIRED:
      • CompTIA Network+
    • DESIRED (Not required):
      • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
      • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
      • CompTIA Security+
      • Foundational Cloud Certification (AWS, Azure)

Clearance: Must possess an active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.
