Nutrition Services Assistant

Job Summary:
The Sevier School District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Child Nutrition Program as a Child Nutrition Assistant. This role is responsible for providing support to the food service activities at assigned locations, ensuring that meals meet mandated nutritional requirements and are served in a safe and sanitary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cooking food items that meet nutritional requirements and requests of students and school personnel
- Verifying quantities and specifications of orders
- Maintaining facilities in a safe and sanitary condition
- Attending unit meetings, in-service training, and workshops to convey and gather information required to perform job functions
- Cleaning and maintaining utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and eating and serving areas
- Estimating food preparation amounts and adjusting recipes as needed
- Evaluating prepared foods for flavor, appearance, and temperature
- Inspecting food items for quantity, quality, and specifications
- Inventorying food, condiments, and supplies
- Monitoring kitchen and cafeteria areas for safety and sanitation
- Performing functions of other nutritional services positions as requested by the supervisor
- Reporting equipment malfunctions
- Serving meals to students and school personnel
- Stocking food, condiments, and supplies
- Assisting with loading and unloading delivery vans and transporting food to assigned school sites
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations
- Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, food service personnel, school staff, and teachers
- Food Handlers permit
- Background check
- Personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation
Working Conditions:
This position works 9 months a year, with evenings, weekends, and summers off. Holidays off include Labor Day, Thanksgiving, mid-year break, Martin Luther King Day, and Spring Break.
