Job Title: Children's Respite Care Worker

This role is part of our team at Mental Health America of South Central Kansas, dedicated to providing support to families and caregivers of children with serious emotional, behavioral, or psychological disorders.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Children's Respite Care Worker to provide one-on-one services to children in need. As a member of our team, you will work closely with families and caregivers to provide relief and support, promoting the well-being and development of these children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one services to children with serious emotional, behavioral, or psychological disorders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of service provision, including progress notes and billing information.
  • Participate in community activities with children and engage them in planned activities, such as community service.
  • Document and notify the program Lead of emergency situations, concerns, or incidents.
  • Participate in training sessions to learn how to assist children in daily-living activities, deal with symptoms of mental illness, and provide personal support to consumers.
  • Provide support in crisis situations.
  • Exhibit responsibility and accountability in providing service as scheduled and contacting parents, schools, and supervisors in case of absence or tardiness.
Requirements:
  • Maintain an acceptable overall attendance record, including department staff meetings, agency meetings, and trainings as required.
  • Exhibit appropriate level of technical knowledge for the position.
  • Produce quantity of work necessary to meet job requirements.
  • Work well with a team, keep others informed of information needed, and treat others with respect.
  • Maintain effective and professional verbal and written interactions with peers, customers, supervisors, and other staff.
